WoD Preparation Guide!

Those of you are willing to rush level 100 this is a great guide to look:

So I wanted to write a guide on preparing for a big expansion launch like Warlords. I seen too many people saying they are going to spend all day drinking redbull and eating candy while power-leveling through the new zones.

I been through a lot of launches(way too many..) EQ, EQ2, WoW/TBC/WotLK/CATA/MoP, Wildstar, ESO, etc. So I know a little of the trade of grinding those new shiny levels.

  • Drink lots of water! Do not resort to drinking caffeine or energy drinks. These will only slow you down! Having loads of water with you is the best way to go to keep yourself hydrated and alert. If you need energy, 5 hour energy is your best bet. Its quick and it doesn’t leave that nasty afterburn feeling like most energy drinks do. *NO JUNK FOOD! Snacking on candy and salty foods will only make you feel bloated and fatigue you faster! Some carrot sticks with peanut butter (or you preferred dip) is a much better alternative. If you are a veggie-phobe, then I recommend sea salt chips. They taste great and only have 25% of the calories a regular bag of lays does.
  • Get a good nights sleep! Important, you don’t want to be falling asleep midway through a dungeon do you? If you can’t sleep prior, make sure you set a time during the day for a nap, so you can refresh and get back to fighting the iron horde.
  • Take a nice shower and wear some of your most comfortable clothes.
  • Update your video drivers! Updating your drivers will lessen the chances of having hiccups or Crashes-To-Desktop (CTDs) errors at launch.
  • Update your addons! I recommend using the curse client: http://www.curse.com/client

Last minute things to do right before launch night.

  • Reboot your PC and make sure nothing is running in the background that can diminish your gameplay
  • If you can, a day earlier, spend time cleaning out your harddrive of useless files/games/media and defrag.
  • make sure 20-30 minutes before the xpac launches, to run the client one more time to catch any last minute updates.
  • GET HYPED UP!
  • OKAY! ITS MIDNIGHT TIME TO PLAY SO- WTF, LOGIN QUEUES!?
  • Calm yourself. No online game ever launches without a hitch in the wagon. Blizzard is exceptional at Damage Control, so you can be assured that you will be in-game asap. So, relax hit up a netflix or your favorite show/anime and wait for the moment.
  • DON’T FORGET TO DO YOUR STRETCHES! You’re in-game and you been playing for a few hours now. Stop what you’re doing, go find a safe spot to hide or hearth to your inn. Get up from your chair, and stretch and walk around. You don’t want to be that person that sat in a chair for 12 hours straight and now has to use the bathroom.

THINGS TO PREPARE FOR BEFORE LAUNCH!

  • Get your garrison pre-made! So when you do get in-game and finally open up your garrison, you’ll know EXACTLY what to build and what to do!

  • Make Food/Potions/Flasks before launch! This may be a more obsolete practice, but it never hurts to be prepared! So make sure you stock up on your character’s favorite food and drinks so you won’t be having to run around looking for a food vendor!
  • LEVEL YOUR TRADESKILLS! Don’t worry about those shiny capes or that one mount. (I’m looking at you,Ashes of Al’ar) If you got a toon that is behind on their tradeskills, LEVEL IT UP! The update to draenor will make it easier for players to level up from 1-700 in draenor, similar to Pandaria. BUT SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE, and get those tradeskills up now so you won’t have to worry about it come launch!
  • Last but not least, HAVE FUN!
